Thinking positively of dyslexia

Study tips for dyslexics

  • User bullet points for notes

  • Have 3 books for each class, classwork, homework and revision notes

  • When researching a topic, read books that have pictures and alot of spacing in book. So not much text on the pages, this will help you to read more easily

  • Ask your teachers for topics to research in your own time, simply reading up on a subject and then writing a list of bullet point on the topic (great for preparing and revision later)

  • Sit next to the bright kids in class

  • Do work little but often

  • Have breaks when working, ever 30 minutes. Have a 5 minute break to relax your mind and reduce stress

  • What starting a report or essay, write a list of topics you need to write about and then write a sub list for each topic. This will help you work and concentrate on each sub topic

  • Give your self time, its the content that matter, not your spelling or grammar

  • When you are writing, use colour ink pens, such as red, green or blue. Don't use black as if will be harder for you to read.
